Returns and exchanges

We understand that buying online can be hard - as you don’t get to try it on before you buy. Because of this we offer a refund or exchange for online orders of full priced items - minus any shipping costs incurred.

Unfortunately any discounted, customized, or custom-made items cannot be returned and are final sale.

To return an online order, it must be in original condition, unused, unwashed and with all hang tags attached.

To make a return or exchange please email info@jpalm.co.nz within 24 hours of receiving your purchase, and then return the item to this address:

JPALM
Level 5 Anvil House, 138 Wakefield Street, Te Aro, Wellington 6011, New Zealand
Ph: 0273122514

Please make sure that the returned item is back at the JPalm workroom within 7 days of originally receiving the goods. Remember to get a tracking number as we can’t take responsibility for any lost or damaged packages. Once the item has been returned to JPalm you will receive your refund.

For any further queries please email: info@jpalm.co.nz

Any items purchased in person (like at a pop up shop or workroom sale) are only available for refund, exchange or credit if the item is genuinely faulty. You will need to email and discuss the fault before sending the item back to the JPalm workroom to be investigated. JPalm reserves the right to repair or replace the item before a refund or credit is offered. We do not accept returns if you have changed your mind or your circumstances have changed.

Sustainability

All JPALM garments are prouldy MADE IN NEW ZEALAND AOTEAROA.

JPalm garments are mainly made by expert sewers based right here in Wellington. With a handful of styles being sewn or knitted in Auckland. All of our sewers are paid a LIVING WAGE - this is really important to us as we view sewing as a highly skilled role.

The perks of producing our garments locally means we can build great relationships, any hiccups can be resolved easily, and it reduces our carbon footprint as there is less freight involved.

Many garments are also still hand sewn by designer/maker Julia in her workroom in central Wellington, New Zealand. Having a hands-on process is really important as it means we can adapt and change as the materials demand to ensure quality and originality.

The fabrics used in JPalm garments are carefully chosen from New Zealand suppliers - prioritizing natural or regenerated fibres. Often vintage or found fabrics are re-purposed and saved from landfill. We also work directly with a handful of fabric mills in China, which ensures we get unique, exclusive and custom fabrics. This also means we only order exactly what we need and there isn't any wastage.

Many of the textiles are distressed or treated by hand at the JPalm workroom - such as the hand bleaching/dying or any frayed edges etc.

If you would like more clarifications around sustainability and manufacturing, please feel free to reach out to us: info@jpalm.co.nz

The aim of the game is to be gentle and considerate with your JPalm garment so you can enjoy it for aslong as possible :)

Always follow individual garment care instructions on the care label (usually on the inside lower seam of the garment).

We recommend handwashing any delicate fabrics - such as silk, fine cotton or viscose items. This will also help to maintain the longevity of the colour.

For coats, lined blazers etc.. we recommend getting them dry cleaned when needed (once a season). This is because sometimes the fusing that keeps the collars or button stands structured can react badly to steam or water. If in doubt - you can always reach out to us, and always follow the intructions on the care label.

Denim and tshirting is able to go in the washing machine on a cold cycle for cotton. Do not put it in the dryer.. as there might be a tiny bit of shrinkage and we don't want that. Always wash with like colours, and there may be some dye run - especially with the dark blue denim.

To bring more life to your JPalm garment as you wash and wear it - we recommend tailoring the garment to fit your specific needs, and repairing them when the garment ages.
